Our lunchtime roundtable is an opportunity for students and other participants to engage in a casual conversation with faculty members from the Department of Political Science on issues of Race, Indigeneity, and Ethnicity in Political Science Research.
Specifically, this conversation will address some recent trends wherein universities are working to "Decolonize," "Indigenize," and "Reconcile" the academy. We hope that this lunchtime session will provide participants with a unique opportunity to engage faculty in this conversation by asking questions and making comments as part of the conversation.
Confirmed speakers include: Isabel Altamirano-Jimenez; Malinda Smith; Fiona Nicoll; Adam Gaudry
The lunchtime roundtable will be taking place from 12-1 on Friday, March 31st, 2017. Lunch will be provided from Kids in the Hall Bistro Catering. If there are any dietary concerns, please let us know as soon as possible.
In 2009, Malinda Smith organized a panel for the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, featuring Joyce Green, Makere Stewart Harawira, and Rauna Kuokkanen, on "Decolonizing the Academy: The Status of Indigenous Peoples and Scholarship." An audio recording of the panel is available here.
